An Assistant Commissioner of Police attached to Zone 6 Police Headquarters Calabar, ACP (Barr) Vivian Chinemerem Aworonye has been killed by a commercial motorcyclist in Calabar metropolis, Cross River State of Nigeria.
A close and reliable source from Zone 6, told CrossRiverWatch, that since the senior Police Officer had no accommodation in any of the Police Barracks, she decided to stay within Zone 6 in one of the offices.
She was crossing from Zone 6 to the other side of the road at about 6:30 PM when a motorcycle rider hit her earlier this weekend.
She fell on her head and was rushed to Bakor Hospital, a private facility located about 1.5 kilometers East of the Headquarters, Zone 6 Command Department of the Nigerian Police Force.
She was referred to Psychiatrist Hospital, considering the head injury but later passed on to Teaching Hospital.
Before her death, she was on transfer from the Force Legal Department, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Zone 6 Police Headquarters, Calabar has regretted announcing the demise of ACP (Barr) Vivian Chinemerem Aworonye who until her death was the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration.
In a short message sighted by CrossRiverWatch, the Zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nelson Okpai, said “A condolence register has been opened at the Zone 6 Headquarters. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
The motorcyclist has been taken into police custody.
The tragic incident comes on the heels of a statement from the State Government earlier in the week, reiterating the ban on the use of motorcycles within the Calabar metropolis.
