By Godwin Otang

The Paramount Ruler of Ikom Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Minen Takon Atangba Nkpa, (Minen Okwa the 2nd of Akparabong Bosok), has initiated peaceful talks with the Ekpache-Nkome kingdom, over the throne of Okim Emang, cautioning that he doesn’t want any parallel governments in the LGA.

The traditional head gave the caution when he paid a courtesy visit to the Ekpache-Nkome kingdom in Ikom urban early on Wednesday, March  6, 2024.

During the visit, the elders of the Ekpache-Nkome kingdom made it known to the Paramount Ruler, that they have Okim Emang III, and that Okim Emang II, had been dethroned by the people of Ekpache-Nkome.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, Okim Ogar Odi Ojang affirmed that “We the people of Ekpache-Nkome have taken our decision to install Okim Emang III because Okim Emang II who was Okim Patrick Manyo Onyam cannot lead us well again.”

CrossRiverWatch learned that following the development,  Okim Emang Patrick Manyo Ojong, the head of Ikom-South is now the new Okim Emang of Ekpache- Nkome kingdom.

In an address, the New Okim Emang Patrick Manyo Ojong assured the paramount ruler and the Ekpache Nkome kingdom of total peace and unity in Ikom urban. He also thanked the paramount ruler for “finding time to come and make peace in Ekpache Nkome kingdom.”

A Statement from Owan Perry, head of the Ikom Royalty Media however, quoted the Paramount Ruler, as admonishing the people of Ekpache- Nkome to be united and live in peace with One another.

“I don’t want a parallel government in this my administration, you people should do what you know is good and bring peace to our people. All I want is peace and unity among us. Thank you very much, my people,” the Royal Father prayed.
