Governor Otu Okays Recruitment Into State Unified Local Government Service

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has approved the recruitment of junior and senior staff into the state unified local government service.

This information was contained in a public service announcement signed by Permanent Secretary Chairman, Emmanuel Egban.

The Local Government Service Commission has however, sent special invitations to qualified Cross Riverians to occupy various positions such as administrative officers, accounting officers among others.

Selected candidates are to possess degrees based on their qualifications and are directed to write to the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission.

The Commission says candidates must not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age at the time of application and for the post of administrative officer, candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

The statement reads “This is to inform the Public that, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has approved the recruitment of Senior and Junior Staff into the Unified Local Government Service.

“Arising from this, the Local Government Service Commission has invited suitable and qualified Cross Riverians to fill the underlisted vacancies which includes Administrative Officers, accounting officers, planning officers, budget officers, Nurses/CHEW, messengers, drivers, security, clerical officers, data processing officers.

“Candidates must not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years of age at the time of application and for the post of Administrative Officer, candidates must possess a Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. Candidates with additional qualifications will be of added advantage.

“Candidates applying for the post of Accounting Officers must possess a degree in Accountancy, Banking and Finance and Business Administration from a recognized Universities and are registrable with their professional bodies while candidates for the post of Planning Officers and Budget Officers, must have a degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Business Administration.

“Candidates must possess the Registered Nursing and registered Midwife Certificates, to be qualified for the post of Nurses, while candidates for the post of Community Health Extension Workers, must possess Certificate in Community Health from a recognized health institutes. Also, candidates applying for the post of clerical officers must possess 5 credits including English and Mathematics.

“Candidates for the post of Security man/Watchman must be physically fit and mentally alert and must possess a first school leaving certificate, plus a six months training certificate from a security organization.

“Candidates for the post of driver/mechanics must possess Trade Test II and III while candidates for the post of Data Processing Officers must possess Diploma in Computer from recognized and accredited institutions.

“All candidates must apply in writing to the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission not later than two weeks from the date of this publication. Candidates must include hard copies of all relevant educational qualifications to reach the Commission no later than August 30, 2024.”
