The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Gyogon Grimah, has assured that priority will be given to the welfare of officers wives in the state.
CP Grimah gave the assurance in a goodwill message at the 60th anniversary of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Cross River State Command.
He stressed on building trust and confidence among members, fostering skillfulness, and recognizing the motherly role that POWA plays in the police community, even as he enjoins for togetherness.
In a bid to motivate and encourage the POWA, cash donations were made to the Command CP, deputy commissioners of police, department of operations/investigation and to the parade commanders.
Earlier declaring open the 60th anniversary held at the State Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar, the Chairperson of POWA, Mrs. Julia Grimah emphasized the importance of unity among members, the supportive role of police officers’ wives in their families, and the vital contributions as home builders. She highlighted the reliability and focus of members and encouraging them to continue in their roles with dedication and commitment.
Mrs. Grimah signed the visitor’s registration book in the office of the CP, signifying a formal recognition of her visit and the significance of the event.
Shortly afterwards, the exercise climaxed with a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Women Affairs that symbolizes the collaboration and mutual support between POWA and the state government in addressing issues affecting women.
High points of the event was the inspection of sentry guard by Mrs. Julia; a ceremonial duty that underlines leadership and dedication to POWA. It also featured group photograph and a joint parade conducted by members of POWA/Police Wives Association (PWA) Zone 6, Cross River State Command, and the Mobile Police Force 11 Squadron Calabar.
The event witnessed the attendance of over 200 members of POWA and PWA, alongside the Commissioner of Police and Command’s Management Team.
