An accident involving two trucks carrying bags of cement along the 8 Miles, Calabar, has sent the wrong signal to the people of the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by improper loading of one trailer and reckless overtaking by the second.
Fortunately, no casualty was recorded in the accident. The drivers and pedestrians escaped unharmed.
The accident occurred a few meters from the entrance of the 8 Miles Market adjacent to First Bank.
The eyewitness appealed to the Cross River State Government to address the issue of improper parking in strategic locations to prevent future accidents.
“This incident is a wake-up call for the government to take action,” the eyewitness said.
The Cross River State House of Assembly has been urged to intervene and ensure road safety measures are implemented.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the state.
Authorities are advised to investigate the incident and take necessary measures to prevent future accidents.
