Transport Ministry Extends Deadline For Commercial Vehicles Official Color Painting

By Winifred Michael

The Cross River State Ministry of Transportation has announced an extension to the deadline for commercial intra-city transport operators to adopt the state’s official colors on their vehicles.

According to a press release issued on September 16, 2024, and signed by Honorable Ekpenyong Cobham, Commissioner for Transportation, the new deadline for compliance is November 18, 2024, instead of the initial date of September 17, 2024.

He said the extension aims to ease the burden on transport operators amidst current economic challenges, particularly the rise in petrol prices, in line with Governor Otu’s “People First” initiatives.

All commercial intra-city transport operators are required to repaint their vehicles with the official Cross River State colors by the new deadline.

The press release reads: “The Cross River State Ministry of Transportation wishes to inform all commercial intra-city transport operators and the general public that the enforcement of the use of Cross River State colors for vehicles has been extended, initially set for 17th September 2024, the new deadline is now 18th November 2124.

“This decision was made in response to the current economic challenges, especially the rise in petrol prices, and aligns with the governor’s People First initiatives which prioritizes the well-being of citizens.

“All transport operators are strongly encouraged to comply with the policy and the new deadline accordingly.”
