The Nigerian Police Force has commenced a manhunt for armed men who killed an Inspector and kidnapped three others on Thursday at a quarry in Akamkpa Local Government Area of southern Cross River State.
Armed men dressed in military camouflage had invaded the MarkSino quarry at about 5:20 PM on Thursday, killing a Police inspector, carted away his rifle, kidnapped two Chinese expatriates, and a Nigerian.
And, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 6 command, AIG Jonathan Towuru has ordered a manhunt, directing the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department to visit the scene amidst coordinated efforts “to clamp down on the hoodlums, release victims unhurt and bring perpetrators to justice,” a statement by the zonal spokesman, SP Nelson Okpabi reads.
“The Assistant Inspector-general of Police, AIG Jonathan Towuru, mni, has ordered a manhunt for armed men dressed in military camouflage who invaded Marksino quarry Camp in Akamkpa LGA Cross River State today Thursday 7th November, 2024 at about 1720 hours.
“The hoodlums who gained entrance into the quarry premises through a security breach of a civilian worker at the gate, kidnapped two Chinese, one Nigerian, killed an Inspector of Police and carted away his AK-47 rifle Breech No. BE-35-2982,” the statement, with reference number, CZ :5300/ZPC.6/ZPRO/VOL.4/69 read.
Furthermore, the AIG, “commiserates with the slain inspector’s family, relatives and friends and assured them of his resolve not to rest on his oars until the victims are released and justice served on those behind the dastardly act,” the statement added.
