The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, former Governors of the State – His Excellency, Chief Clement Ebri, His Excellency, Mr. Donald Duke and His Excellency Senator Liyel Imoke and among other political heavyweights will grace the Agba Jalingo Foundation for Investigative and Accountability Journalism (AJFIAJ) symposium on cyber crimes and journalism.
The mouthwatering and much anticipated symposium is scheduled for January 2nd, 2025 at the Pearl Ball Hall of Transcorp Hotel, Calabar, the capital of Cross River State by 10:AM.
The general public, media practitioners, journalists, bloggers, vloggers, law enforcement agents, storytellers, and freedom of expression advocates among others are all invited to the one-day event.
Themed: “Journalism and Crossing The Cyber Crimes Act Hurdles,” the symposium aims to foster dialogue on the challenges and implications of the Cyber Crimes Act for digital journalism.
Veteran journalist and Editor of Channels Television, Nneota Egbe will address the topic: “Digital Journalism: Existing Laws, Professionalism, and The Implications.
Also, reputable investigative Journalist and founder of the Foundation for Investigative Journalists (FIJ), Fisayo Soyombo will present on “Investigative Journalism In The Digital Age: History And Navigating Legal Conundrums”.
A panel discussion titled “Digital Journalism And Community Building: Business, Legal, And Practical Perspectives” will feature prominent figures in the field, like Dayo Aiyetan Founder, International Center for Investigative Reporting (ICIR); legal practitioner, First Baba Isa, Esq.
Others include the Chief Executive Officer of Republic Media Limited – Dr. Monday Ashibogwu as well as the General Manager of People’s FM Abuja, Charles Kalu, and other media gurus.
