The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Ugep, has disclaimed a news report by an online media platform, ‘The Whisperer’ alleging misappropriation of six hundred million (600) Naira.

The school management said as an early take-off fund, the federal government approved the release of N2 billion for the project which is judiciously used to embark on some capital projects to enhance smooth takeoff.

They noted that the institution was never given 20 billion Naira as a take-off grant.

On the allegation of being hostile to its host community of Ugep, the school debunked that, the Ugep people are very hospitable and the management is having a cordial relationship with the people who values and respect the relationship.

Read the disclaimer as stated by the Rector and Registrar of the school – Professor Edward Ntui Okey and Mr. Arikpo Eno respectively: “The attention of the Management has been drawn to a false and misleading publication dated 3d December, 2024, on the above subject matter orchestrated by “The Whisperer” an online publisher against our institution.

”The institution, hereby issue this disclaimer notice to correct the false and misleading information published by “The Whisperer”

”For purposes of clarity and in order to better facilitate your understanding, we deem it not only necessary but also very expedient to chronicle the facts of our complaint as follows;

“The Federal Government approved the establishment of a Polytechnic for Cross River State and it is to be situated in Ugep, the central part of the state and to enhance its early take-off, the Federal Government approved the release of N2 billion for the project. The above institution being a new school management has judiciously used the above takeoff sum to embark on a good number of capital projects to enhance smooth takeoff. Take notice that the institution was never given 20 billion Naira as a take-off grant.

“The above institution being a new school, management has been doing its best on social media, tv stations etc to attract students into the institutions and the 154 staff as an initial waiver given by the federal government to recruit. We also wish to state that the issue of personnel cost is strictly handled by the IPPIS Secretariat, a Department under the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

“It is worthy of note that the Ugep people are very hospitable people and the management has been and is having a very cordial relationship with the people and they valued and respect this relationship…”
