The Cross River State Government has warned against payment of revenues into unauthorized individual and corporate accounts including the exchange of physical cash for government official services, fines or levies.
The warning was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang dated 31st July, 2025, with reference number, CR/MOI/AD/305/VOL.1/77.
Condemning the act, the government said it is at variance with its Financial Rules and Regulations which are still operational in the State.
The government noted that the unwholesome practices have continued unabated in spite of concerted efforts by the Cross River Internal Revenue Service to block revenue leakages and checkmate the unhealthy trends.
Taxpayers are advised to protect their interests by ensuring that all payments are made exclusively into designated government revenue accounts domiciled in different banks across the state and also directed all taxpayers, corporate organizations, companies and groups to comply with the revenue payment directives, warning that both erring revenue agents and complicit taxpayers will face penalties for non-compliance.
Complying revenue agents and individual taxpayers are lauded for paying their taxes into the designated revenue accounts by the government and further implores all concerned to be vigilant always to report any erring tax agent or individual to the Cross River Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS).
Meanwhile, all revenue consultants in the state are directed to report to the CRIRS, Headquarters, New State Secretariat Complex, Calabar for further briefing.
For information on the government designated revenue bank accounts, the CRIRS help desk is to be reached out on 08129336969, or 0806276827, or send an email: to @crirs.crossriverstate.gov.ng, or chat with CRIRS Paddy on www.crirs.ng.
