The Cross River State Government has commenced a sensitization, mobilization and assessment exercise for registered cooperative societies across the 18 local government areas of the state.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Cross River State Commissioner for Information Hon. Erasmus Ekpange, stating that the essence of the exercise is to promote development of Cooperative Societies in compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and bring them in line with international best standards.
The statement in full: “The Cross River State Government wishes to inform all registered Cooperative Societies in the Eighteen Local Government Areas of the State and members of the public in general that the Cross River State Technical Committee on Cooperative Societies, in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperative Societies, have been mandated to embark on a state-wide comprehensive sensitization, mobilization and assessment of all registered Cooperative Societies existing in the Eighteen Local Government Areas of the State.
“The government wishes to state further that the objective of the exercise is to promote the growth and development of Cooperative Societies in compliance with all relevant Regulations and Laws and bring them in line with international best standards.
“The exercise is expected to commence on Wednesday, 24th September, 2025 beginning from Bakassi Local Government Area and shall
proceed to the other 17 Local Government Areas accordingly.
“In this regard, Government hereby directs all Cooperative Societies in the State to present themselves in their respective LGAS for the Assessment exercise. All Chairmen and Paramount Rulers of local government areas are kindly requested to offer maximum support and cooperation to the Technical Team during the Exercise in their respective local government areas for the overall success of the assessment.”
“For any clarification and support on the exercise, respective individuals are asked to contact the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Cooperative Societies, Dr. Edem Ebong on 08187361208 or Chairman, Cross River State Technical Committee on Cooperative Societies, Etubom Offiong Iyamba on 07033737422.
“The schedule of movement by the Technical Team shall be communicated shortly. Thank you as the government anticipates maximum cooperation from all concerned,” the statement read.
