The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has announced the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Osai as its new Registrar and Mr. Wilson Aniyom as the new varsity Bursar, following a competitive selection process conducted by the institution’s Governing Council.
The appointments were formally announced by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Ntufam Dr. Fidelis Ugbo, after interviews held on Friday, January 23, 2026.
According to the Council, the selection process was merit-based and transparent, aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and financial management at the state-owned university.
The new appointees are expected to play key roles in driving institutional reforms, ensuring compliance with university regulations, and supporting the academic mission of UNICROSS.
Dr. Osai, now Registrar, will oversee the university’s central administration, records, and governance processes, while Mr. Aniyom, as Bursar, will take charge of the institution’s financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal accountability.
While congratulating the newly appointed officers via social media, the Acting Head of Department of Journalism and Media Studies who double as the Chairman UNICROSS Management Media Team, Mr. Cornelius Ellah, inferred that “the Governing Council expressed confidence in their capacity to deliver on their mandates” and he wished them success as they assume office at a critical period in the university’s development.
The appointments come amid ongoing efforts to reposition UNICROSS for stability, improved governance, and enhanced service delivery within the state’s higher education sector.
