The Special Adviser to Cross River State Governor on interventions, Prince Michael Abuo has been appointed by the Nigeria Police Force to chair her campaign against cultism and social vices in the State.
This follows his nomination after a painstaking review of his curriculum vitae by the Cross River State police command on Wednesday in Calabar.
The Nation reports that the Police Force recently launched a Campaign Against Cultism and Other Social Vices (POCACOV), aimed at crime prevention through public enlightenment, youth mentorship, advocacy, and community partnerships.
In his letter of nomination cited by our correspondent, the command through her Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, expressed confidence in Abuo’s leadership ability to direct the campaign in Cross River State.
It noted with admiration how Abuo, who is also the State Coordinator of African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD), had consistently and passionately championed some notable youth related development initiatives in the past.
The letter read in part, “We are reaching out to you because of your outstanding reputation, influence, and commitment to the development of Cross River State.
“We would like to respectfully seek your consent to nominate you as the Chairman of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Social Vices (POCACOV), Cross River State Chapter.
“We believe your leadership, credibility, and passion for youth development would greatly strengthen the campaign and inspire many young people to reject cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud, and other social vices.
The campaign brings together government agencies, traditional and religious leaders, educational institutions, civil society organizations, among other stakeholders to discourage all forms of social vices while promoting positive values, responsible citizenship, and sustainable peace in communities, the letter added.
