UNICROSS Deepens Partnership With Education Ministry, Surveyor General

The Management of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Cross River State Ministry of Education to improve the quality of higher education in the state.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Bassey disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education, Professor Stephen Odey, at his office in Calabar.

The meeting focused on deepening cooperation between the Ministry and the University, with discussions centered on improving academic standards, promoting student development, enhancing administrative efficiency, and advancing policies aimed at strengthening tertiary education in Cross River State.

Receiving the Vice Chancellor and her delegation, Professor Stephen Odey described the visit as a reflection of the cordial relationship between the Ministry and UNICROSS.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the University’s management to implement programs that will improve educational outcomes and support the state’s development agenda.

In her remarks, Prof. Bassey expressed appreciation for the warm reception and fruitful engagement. She stressed that sustained collaboration with the Ministry remains vital to achieving academic excellence, institutional growth, and the delivery of quality education.

Similarly, the VC paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Surveyor General, Surv. Patrick Edet Bassey, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships with key government agencies.

The visit, which took place on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Office of the Surveyor General in Calabar, focused on enhancing collaboration in areas of academic excellence, physical campus development, land administration, and sustainable infrastructure planning.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Bassey highlighted the critical role of surveying in modern infrastructure development, urban planning, environmental sustainability, and geospatial data management.

She noted that as UNICROSS continues to expand its physical infrastructure and train professionals in related disciplines, collaboration with the Office of the Surveyor General is essential to ensuring best practices in spatial planning and development.

Prof. Bassey and her delegation were warmly received by the Surveyor General and senior members of his management team. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for deeper engagement, with the Surveyor General’s team promising a reciprocal return visit to the UNICROSS campus today August 4, 2026, to further solidify partnership frameworks.

The UNICROSS delegation maintained that a strong partnership between the University’s flagship institution and the state’s surveying authority would advance educational development and promote sustainable infrastructure across Cross River State.
