The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 15 Headquarters, Maiduguri, AIG Bassey Samuel Ewah, has paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, as part of efforts to foster collaboration and strengthen relations with traditional institutions.
AIG Ewah, who was accompanied by members of the Zonal Management Team, made the visit on Thursday, September 10, 2026, to formally introduce himself to the traditional ruler following his assumption of duty as the AIG in charge of Zone 15.
Zone 15 comprises the Borno and Yobe State Police Commands, with its headquarters located in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Speaking during the visit, Ewah said it was necessary to seek the blessing and support of the Shehu as the father of the land, noting that such support would contribute to a successful and fruitful tour of duty.
The AIG also emphasized the importance of maintaining cordial relationships with traditional institutions and other key stakeholders in the discharge of the Police mandate within the zone.
In his response, the Shehu of Borno welcomed AIG Ewah to the state and expressed delight over the courtesy visit.

The traditional ruler subsequently shared a brief history of Borno State with the AIG and highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Shehu also noted that Borno is the only Nigerian state that shares international borders with three countries of Niger Republic, Chad and Cameroon.
The visit ended with the presentation of a history book on Borno State to the AIG by the Shehu, alongside an exchange of contact details and pleasantries.
