The Cross River State Civil Service Commission has announced the commencement of recruitment for eligible medical professionals into the state civil service.
The recruitment follows the approval of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, for the employment of qualified Medical Officers to fill vacant positions within the state civil service.
According to a recruitment advertisement signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Sir Maurice Effiwatt, on September 16, 2026, the vacancies cover five categories, with appointments determined by candidates’ professional experience and qualifications.
The positions include Medical Officer, requiring an MBBCH 1- 4 Years of Practice, Senior Medical Officer II, for candidates with an MBBCH 5 – 9 Years of Practice, Senior Medical Officer I, requiring an MBBCH and 10 to 15 Years of Practice.
Also listed are Principal Medical Officer (Consultant) II, requiring a postgraduate fellowship and 1 – 4 Years of Practice, and Principal Medical Officer I (Consultant) for candidates with a postgraduate fellowship and at least 5 Years of Practice.
The Commission said applicants must be between 18 and 45 years of age and meet the specified qualifications and experience requirements for their preferred positions.
Applications are to be submitted online and free of charge through the Commission’s dedicated recruitment portal from Friday, September 18, to Friday, September 25, 2026.
Applicants are required to upload their documents in PDF format, including their highest academic certificate, Certificate of Local Government of Origin, Birth Certificate or Age Declaration, and NYSC Discharge/Exemption or Exclusion Certificate, where applicable.
The Commission stressed that all certificates must be obtained from government-recognized institutions and uploaded from the originals.
Applicants are also required to print a hard copy of their completed application form after submission.
According to the Commission, shortlisted candidates will be notified through email or WhatsApp and published on the Cross River State Civil Service Commission website between October 2 and October 5, 2026.
Successful shortlisted applicants will subsequently attend a physical oral interview at the Commission’s Conference Room in Calabar from October 5 to October 9, 2026.
The Commission advised eligible medical professionals interested in the recruitment to complete their applications within the stipulated period.
