Former Presidential Adviser, Senator Florence Ita Giwa gave further inclination to the possible departure of Senator Bassey Otu from the ruling party on Tuesday afternoon at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar.

Ita Giwa who CrossRiverWatch gathered was on her way back to Abuja after the PDP primaries was overhead by our reporters telling an acquaintance loudly on the phone that Prince Otu will soon dump the ruling party for Labour Party.

The Senator who was dressed in fitted black long sleeve blouse and black trousers, spoke in Efik and added that since the governor had decided to brazenly impose his will on the people, Prince Otu was capable of defeating the governor’s choice in the general election.

Prince Bassey Otu popularly referred to as ‘Sweet Bassey’ by his supporters was defeated at the PDP Cross River Southern Senatorial primary by Gershom Bassey, an ally of Governor Imoke.

Hahahaha! If this is the only way of strengthening the opposition party politics in the Cross River State, let it be. A good credible opposition can only be good for the body politics, and the people represented. But, knowing Nigerians, I will not be surprised if Otu, just like Gershome before him, walk back, tails between his legs, to selfishly accept a more subservient position just to keep the ‘free money’ flowing.

Cross River as a state needs a change in party leadership.you can’t be doing same thing in the same way always and be expecting a different result.leadership style will hardly change if we move on with the same party.all this people have been with us all the while,we know who we want.so let us not us not always call a wolf that is covert with sheep clothing a sheep.the earlier cross riverians stop voting party and voting personallity, the more our hope for a better cross river will increase.God help Cross River.
