Senator Leader, Victor Ndoma Egba, SAN has finally conceded defeat in the Cross River Central PDP senatorial ticket in the interest of the party.
In a statement signed by the Director General of his campaign organization, Mr. Earnest Irek and made available to CrossRiverWatch, the campaign organization noted that though they still stand by their allegation of irregularities in the primary election, the interest of the party is greater than all of them.
part of the statement reads: “After a gruelling campaign that has taken well over a couple of months, it has become necessary to issue this statement to the effect that with the submission of a different name apart from that of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba to INEC by our Party the PDP, the need to sheath our swords has become imminent, especially with the appeal from His Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan to the effect that decorum and sacrifice should prevail to position the party for victory at the next general elections.
“The Organization in the course of the campaign and primaries had put down on record some glaring irregularities it noticed and still stands by it. Be that as it may, the party is greater than all of us and the ultimate aim of hankering for public office is service.
“We thank Mr. President for his fatherly advice and are resolved to work for his success at the polls. To our numerous supporters, we say you win some and lose some. We should take the outcome of this exercise as the will of God. We thank all of you for your support and wish to reassure that Senator Victor Ndoma–Egba will continue to play his leadership role in the Central Senatorial District in particular and Cross River State and Nigeria in general.”
This means the Senate Leader will be replaced in the next Assembly by Hon. Owan Enoh, the current Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation who was returned victorious at the PDP primaries.
