The Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly Hon. John Gaul Lebo has said that education is no longer the key to success.

Hon. Gaul said this while addressing students of different schools at the Theresa Udie Annual Youth Mentorship Forum which held at the Transcorp hotel in Calabar.

His words, “Education is no longer the key to success, it used to be in the earlier days not now”, saying the key to success is embedded in the mind and only common sense can get one there.

Advising the students, he said,  “Go ahead and get education till your University, to help you know how to argue and communicate effectively.

“professional courses are no longer necessary but build your career on passion not forgetting God”.

The host of the program; Theresa Udie, whose speech centered on the theme of the program: “Emancipating the Youths to Empower the State” said that the overall vision of the program is to teach the youths how to be actively engaged in governance and how to be independent.

She advised them to be patient and persevere in their dreams, defining patience as the ability to endure.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Asu Okang in his remark urged the youths to have role models.

Adding that, “What you admire you would attract, what you don’t admire, you will not attract and who mentors you is who you become, you become what you believe”.

The program was graced by several dignitaries including members of the House of Assembly, and several appointees of Governor Ben Ayade.

The program had a cultural troops, dance, music and speech competition by the students with the winners carting away different prizes.
