James Ene Henshaw Foundation Holds Script Development Workshop In Calabar

The James Ene Henshaw Foundation has organized a 2 day Script and Project Development workshop tagged “Open Space” in Calabar for young persons in the creative sector to develop their art and coin it for performance.

According to James Henshaw, Secretary of the Foundation, the training is “designed to kick-start the careers of the creative minds that will go on to influence the performance of tomorrow”.

He also added that the training involves development workshops, led by leading industry practitioners and that it also “offers the chance to new writers, directors, choreographers, and performing artist the opportunity to work collaboratively at the highest professional levels, build crucial skills in their art forms and gain knowledge on how to get new projects off the ground”.

Also speaking, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts, University of Calabar, Karen said participants should see arts as beyond just plays and dramas, as forms like performance have their entertainment value and participants should be ready to gather lessons from the training to better their art.

The workshop run in partnership with the British Council (Nigeria) is the first stage towards a mentoring program where four persons will be selected and their work showcase to an audience.
