The Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma Egba SAN, has described the return of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari to the country after a 51-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom as a “great relief from anxiety.’’

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant, communication office of the NDDC, Clara Braide, in Abuja during the weekend, the leader of the Senate in the seventh assembly said President Buhari’s absence had “understandably generated anxiety’’ reports The NATION.

“We thank God that the President is back and ready to return to the challenge of nation building,’’ the NDDC chairman said.

He congratulated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for what he described as the “capable manner” in which he steered the ship of the state during the President’s absence.

“He (Osinbajo) has demonstrated that he is a loyal and competent vice-president and that there is only one presidency,’’ he said.

Vice President Osinbajo had acted on President Buhari’s behalf until Monday when he (Buhari) transmitted a letter to the National Assembly announcing his return.

President Buhari had departed Nigeria on January 19, 2017 and was due to return after 10 working days but extended his vacation indefinitely.

He returned on Friday, March 10, 2017 with reports suggesting he may travel backto the United Kingdom in a few weeks’ time.
