The maiden literary art competition of the Cross River State government will be named after wife of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, Dr. Linda Ayade says the Department of Creative and Knowledge Economy.
This followed the endorsement of the competition by Mrs. Ayade after a visit to her by the Senior Special Adviser, Emmanuel Etim to brief her on the planned competition.
The competition will be tagged: “The Linda Ayade Literary Art Competition.”
And, Mrs. Ayade in her remarks said that: “It makes a lot of sense and this kind of competition will promote academic excellence among our citizens and residents.”
Earlier, Mr. Etim had explained that: “The Linda Ayade Literary Art Competition” is expected to promote literary prowess among people who have a leaning to the arts and will cover competitions in poetry and prose.
He averred that there will be two sub categories of the competition: junior and open sub categories.
On the sustainability of the program, Mr. Etim disclosed that he has begun a conversation with the British Government through the British Council and other sponsors to get the required support and backing for the competition.
The competition which will open on December 15th, 2017 is scheduled to run till January, 2018 with more information to be made available on the website.
The winners in both areas are expected to win several prizes including money, Mr. Etim added.
Also, he said another competition: “Afi Ekong Visual Art Competition will also be unveiled alongside the Linda Ayade Literary Art Competition.”
