The new Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVC) of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) will resume on Monday sources in the Varsity say.
They include Professor Lucy Udida who will serve as the new DVC Administration and Professor Uche Amalu who will serve as the new DVC Academics.
The duo’s appointment was confirmed weeks ago and they will replace Professors Ndifreke Udonwa and Florence Obi who served as DVCs administration and academics respectively.
A synopsis of Professor Udida extracted from the Varsity’s website showed that she was the Coordinator of the institution’s sandwich program before her recent appointment.
“Professor Lucy Ambekeh Udida is from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. She is a professor and Lectures in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning Unical.
“She is a member of several Professional Association of Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP). She belongs to different social organizations including: Igwo Daughters Development Association, Obudu Women Development Association and Obudu/Obanlikwu Women at Unical.
“She has published over 60 articles both in foreign and local journals. She has served as HOD and currently the sandwich coordinator in UNICAL. Lucy Ambekeh is happily married to Dr. TPL Alfred Udida and the marriage is blessed with five children,” the synopsis read.
Meanwhile Professor Amalu served as the dean of Faculty of Agriculture between 2006-2008.
Professor Amalu lectures in the department of Soil Sciences where he has also served as a head of department and until his recent appointment was a member of the Governing council of the institution.
