Cross River Government Does Not Want To Fund Judiciary – Ukweni, Amah Allege, Say Courts Are like Dungeons (VIDEO)

By Violet Isek

Legal practitioners in Calabar, the Cross River State capital have accused the executive arm of government of deliberately frustrating the judiciary to ensure people do not get justice.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mba Ukweni and a former chairman of the Calabar branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mrs. Nkoyo Amah stated this while speaking as guests on Sunday on a radio program, ‘The Dialogue with Agba Jalingo’ on Hit 95.9 FM.

The duo dismissed allegations of corruption as the cause for the delay in the dispensation of justice and laid the blame on the executive arm of government which according to them have refused to fund the judiciary despite constitutional backing for the independence of that arm of government.

Also, the duo described the courtrooms in the state as “dungeons” that are not even fit for goats and maintained that the judiciary was the last hope of not just the common man, but of everyone.
