As more details emerge over the gruesome murder of four policemen by gunmen on Thursday, CrossRiverWatch has obtained more details about the incident.
The team was deployed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Tinapa Area on stop and search duty along Idundu road.
The team, comprised of two Inspectors and two Sergeants also lost two rifles attached to it with 15 rounds of ammunition each while two other rifles were recovered.
Inspector Samuel John with AP. NO 412921, Inspector Abam Otu with AP. NO 179441, Sergeant Abang Ajie with F/NO 477144 and Sergeant Godspower Okoi with F/NO 479139 were all shot dead.
Security sources say no shell was found at the scene of the crime to aid investigations into the type of weapon that was used.
Five suspects have since been arrested with the Police Commissioner, Sikiru Akande telling journalists that the checkpoint was unknown to the State command.
