Cross River Establishes Youth Enterprise Fund

The Government of Cross River State has restated its commitment to youth development by dedicating 1% of every income that comes into the State to the Youth Enterprise Fund domiciled under the State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency.

This was made known by the Governor of Cross River State and Founder of The Bridge Leadership Foundation, Senator Liyel Imoke at the closing ceremony of the Foundation’s Graduate Employability Training held in Calabar.

Senator Imoke encouraged young people to come up with bankable ideas, and take advantage of available resources in the state by aligning their interests with growth minded organizations such as The Bridge Leadership Foundation, Cross River State Microfinance Enterprise Development Agency and the Central Bank of Nigeria Enterprise Development Center.

This rounded off an intensive week of impactful capacity building and experience sharing sessions as the Bridge Leadership Foundation recently trained 60 graduates on Personal and Career development skills with a view to enhancing the employability potentials of young people in the Cross River State.

Designed with the core objectives of improving the employability potential of youths in Cross River State, igniting a drive for continuous personal development, creating high value personnel, thereby improving the quality of the active labour force in Cross River State, the Graduate Employability training held between October 29th – November 3rd, 2013 and was powered by a faculty of nine (9) high impact facilitators.

Through a competitive application and selection process of over 150 applications, the 60 graduates were taken through an intensive five-day course comprising comprehensive modules spanning: Success Creeds, Self Discovery, Personality Analysis, How to Craft a Winning CV, Tips on Job Interviews & Tests, Developing Excellent Writing Skills, Communication skills including Social Media, Time Management, Personal Grooming & Business Etiquette.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, the Programs Officer of the Foundation, Esther Eshiet stated, “Our conviction in implementing the 2nd edition of the Graduate Employability training is based on our dedication towards the enhancement of effectiveness of Nigerian graduates; the testimonials from our first batch of this training has proven that young people can lead themselves and others if provided the right support and skills”

    We only see dis opportunities on social media bt if u are not connected one usually finds it very difficult to get acces to this opportunities.
