By Patrick Obia

Cross River-born Iso Bassey will be one of the key speakers at the 2022 Black History Month celebration at the United Kingdom’s House of Parliament.

Black History Month (BHM) is recognized in the United Kingdom and celebrated every October since 1987 when it was marked with an event hosted at the Commonwealth Institute. It is marked to recognize the contributions of Black people, culture, and heritage to the UK and the world in general.

Bassey, a native of Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria will be one of the speakers to speak on their contributions to humanity.

As Special Assistant on ICT to former Governor Lyel Imoke, he led several initiatives aimed at improving service delivery to citizens, chaired the local organizing committee for the Nigeria National Software Conference, and served on the planning committee for Calabar Festival.

Currently, the Ejagham of Qua descendant in Municipal is the founder of a non-profit organization – The Cross Movement (TCM); a platform that is passionate about social issues especially as they affect Cross River and Nigeria.
