The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Congress (YPP) in the just concluded polls in the State, Prince Agbor, and three others have regained their freedom after days in captivity.
They were kidnapped on Thursday, March 16 at the Akparavuni axis in Biase Local Government Area.
The State Chairman of YPP, Mr. Anthony Bissong confirmed the release on Tuesday.
Mr. Bissong, in a Facebook post, while applauding their safe release, fingered “dreaded Fulani Militia” as those behind the kidnap.
“I can confirm to the glory of God Almighty that my brother, friend, and Deputy Governorship candidate and three others kidnapped on the 16th of March have been released from their captors this morning. I just got off the phone with him now.
“While we need to write book chapters to chronicle his experience in the dark world of the kidnappers, it is important and indeed urgent to reinforce the fact that we are living with the dreaded Fulani Militia as our nefarious neighbors in Cross River State. The trailer park at Ibogo is a flashpoint and study center where the dreaded monsters use to study the nooks and crannies of our state.
“I call on all security agencies in Cross River State to mobilize and comb the entire Biase forest and all the neighboring LGAs up to the boundaries with the Republic of Cameroon. If this exercise is not carried out now, then in the nearest future, we may have to prepare to put up with the constant onslaught that will be unleashed by these AK49-wielding criminals.
“I welcome back to base my dear brother and Comrade, Prince Agbor the Honey Prince.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that not less than 2 million, 250 thousand Naira was paid for their ransom and currently undergoing medicals.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo said she was not briefed of the release but will confirm and revert but never did till press time.
