By Sylvia Akpan, Government House Correspondent

The Cross River State governor, Sen. Bassey Otu, dissolved the Task Force on Petroleum Monitoring and created the Hydrocarbon and Solid Minerals Development Agency.

He appointed Prince Ntui Ogar as Director-General of the Agency.

This was contained in a press release signed by Dr. Innocent Eteng, Permanent Secretary to the State Government, and dated August 23, 2023, with reference number SSG/GSA/102/VOL.VI/226.

The decision Otu said is in line with the “determination” to drive the exploration and mining of mineral resources, “with a view to bringing Cross River State as a significant player in global oil, gas, and solid mineral development.”

The appointment of Prince Ntui as Director-General of the Agency is with “immediate effect”.
