The first statewide trade fair in Cross River State in about 9 years is set for November, 2024 in Calabar, without expected revenue target.
The trade fair according to the Commissioner for Commerce, Hon. Abigail Orok, is aimed at boosting and promoting the industrial, commercial, agricultural, raw materials, and minerals potentials of the state to attract investment opportunities based on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
However, the traditional buying and selling of goods /services will not be left out during the trade fair. The Commerce Commissioner further disclosed that the target participants will include the 18 Local governments of the state, private companies within and outside the state, foreign embassies/ consulates, and state governments within the South-South, South-East and other zones of the Country.
The Trade Fair is being organized in collaboration with the Calabar and Ikom Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture; the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise (NASME), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), among others,who are expected and are willing to attract a large and quality participation from their members.
The fair, according to the Commissioner, will also provide markets for new products, create access to new markets, and development trends as well as build new business relationships within and outside Nigeria.
While addressing Journalists in Calabar on Wednesday, she said the financial implications of the trade fair is not yet determined as activities to mark the trade fair are still ongoing. Adding that there are no expected revenue targets from the trade fair, as it is not meant for profit making.
