The Cross River State command of the Nigerian Police Force says it has recovered a Mini-Bus, less than 24 hours after it was stolen.
The recovery of the Mini-Bus snatched along the Awi-Odukpani road around 8:40 PM on Friday was aided by youths of Odukpani Local Government Area, the Police said in a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo read.
“Upon receipt of the complaint of the incident by Odukpani division, search commenced by the Police with the owner of the vehicle with the youth leader and some youths of Ekim Ebebet Community in Odukpani which subsequently lead to the interception and arrest of two suspects,” the Police said.
Also, Utibe Nse Solomon, aged 26 and Emmanuel Effiong, aged 27, both males, “from Akwa Ibom State but resident at Akpabuyo,” were arrested and are in custody, the Police said.
Furthermore, upon search of those arrested, “a kitchen knife and dried hot pepper were recovered,” the Police added.

Commending the youths, the statement says the Commissioner of Police, Rashid Afegbua noted that, “the activities that played out was a demonstration of Community Policing,” and reiterated that, “security is everyone’s business which should not be left for security agencies alone.”
