The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that they are delighted about news of the remarkable recovery of Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State who has been out of the country for medical treatment. The party also said that the governor is expected in his office very soon.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement said “We have just received news of the remarkable recovery of the Governor of Cross Rivers state, Governor Liyel Imoke and we are very happy. We expect that he will be back to his office very soon to continue the good works he has been doing in his state.”
Metuh commended the leaders of the party in the state particularly the Acting Governor, party chairmen, Rt. Hon. Larry Odey, Speaker of the Houses of Assembly, state caucus members, members of the National Assembly from Cross River State as well as political office holders for the hitch free administration of the state while the governor has been away.
According to Mr. Metuh, the the fact that government activities continued to run smoothly in the governor’s absence demonstrate discipline amongst party members and a determination to remain focused on improving the welfare of the people in the state at all times.
The statement also expressed gratitude to the people of Cross Rivers state for their prayers for the governor saying God has answered those prayers by the governor’s recovery.
It will be recalled that Senator Liyel Imoke left the country on November 6, 2012 to the United States to attend to an undisclosed ailment.
He later informed the State House of Assembly on December 5, 2012 that he was proceeding on accumulated leave for two months and his deputy was empowered to act in his stead.
The leave will be over by February 5, 2013 and the governor is expected to resume duty on February 6, 2013.
