Missing Child Found In Calabar

By Sylvia Akpan

The Cross River State Police Command has called on the general public to render assistance in identifying a missing child found in Calabar on Monday, 6th April 2026, at about within the premises of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Akim.

According to the police, the child was brought to the Police by a security guard attached to the church after he was discovered wandering within the premises.

According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah in a press release, said efforts to obtain useful information from the child proved unsuccessful, as he could neither state his name, address, nor identify his parents or guardians.

The police noted that preliminary findings indicate that the child may have either been abandoned or lost his way. He is currently in protective custody at Akim Police Station, where adequate care and safety measures have been put in place pending identification.

The police seeks anyone who can assist in locating his parents/guardians to report to Akim Police Station or contact the DPO and the PPRO on the available phone lines 08067339179 and 07067977330 or the nearest police station.

The Command assures the public of its continued commitment to the protection of lives and property, particularly vulnerable members of society.
