“Our politics cannot and should not be allowed to continue to divide us, our past wrong and present mistakes should not stand in the way because we must be our brothers’ keeper to advance”.

This assertion was reechoed by Mr. Goddy Jeddy Agba during the Re-Build Nigeria Initiative, Cross River State chapter’s official launching of Project 1 Nigeria in Calabar.

Mr. Agba represented by Mr. Clay Oko-Offoboche who chaired the event added that: “I’m not here to add to or burst raging political myths in the ongoing political conversation in the state, the noble aim of this project is to unite all Nigerians into one mega family.

“The spirit behind Project 1 Nigeria is an ideal that should be actively cultivated and allowed to permeate our daily political thinking and practice, the change we seek is for Nigerians to treat each other as a family. Our recent disagreements do not define the brotherhood between us, we need to revisit these positive ties and strenghten them through Project 1 Nigeria as the arrow head”.

In his keynote address “Dr. Michael Una, said: “Cross River and Akwa Ibom are historically one big family that sterm from one tree with very close culture and language, but as rhetorically stated by the theme the oneness which once existed between us before our modern arguements which in truth has created a gulf between us which in great ways have distorted growth and development.

“There is an urgent need for us to return to the common family values that once binded us; values of caring, sharing and refusing egoistic temptations. We can blaze the trail in adopting the best practices in intergovernmental relations in the Nigerian Federation”.

In his vote of thanks, Mr. Castro Ezama, Re-Build Nigeria Initiative, Cross River State Co-ordinator noted that “Despite the decamping of some staunch members of our dear party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP I’m not moved because I have the strong conviction that PDP will still rule with or without them.

“The All Progressive Congress, APC is a group of people filled with insatiable greed but God will not allow such team lead us again. Rotimi Amaechi is an individual that cannot deter us, he’s the Judas of our time”.

Mr. Ezama lauded the Governors of Akwa Ibom and Cross River State, Obong Godswill Akpabio and Senator Liyel Imoke respectively for their steadfastness in PDP especially in this trying moments.

Delegates from Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa State chapters of the group were in attendance.
