The male undergraduate robber who alongside two female colleagues was stripped naked by mob last month for robbing a Calabar based business woman has died in hospital.

The male suspect, whose name was given as Eze Okechukwu, with two of his female accomplices were rounded up while attempting to dispossess a businesswoman of her N1.5million in a ‘one chance’ cab.

The state Police Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, Mr. Hogan Bassey who confirmed the incident, absolved the police of any complicity in the arrest and torture of the suspects, saying the arrest and torture was by a mob.

He said the suspects were rushed to hospital after a team of policemen from the police headquarters rescued the suspects from the mob.

“Suspects were rushed to hospital with broken skulls and mutilated genital organs, occasioned by the inhuman attack on them by the mob”.

Hogan Bassey said Eze died after the doctors had commenced treatment and one of the females is said to be in a critical state, as urchins were said to have indecently inserted hard objects into her private part.tv
