The management of Transcorp Hotels Calabar, a hotel within the growing hospitality portfolio of the Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), has fully restored its electricity connection after a generator house was affected by fire at 5pm on Friday.
The management in a statement on Sunday evening which was made available to CrossRiverWatch said the fire was quickly contained following the timely intervention of the Cross River State Government and the emergency teams of the State Fire Service and the Margaret Ekpo International Airport. No injuries or fatalities were sustained.
Chuma Mgbojikwe, General Manager of Transcorp Hotels Calabar, thanked the Cross River State Government, fire service teams, state security agencies and the general public for their prompt intervention and support.
“The total protection of our customers and staff are of the utmost importance to us, he said, adding, “Transcorp Hotels Calabar remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards, as demonstrated by our swift response to this incident.”
Mgbojikwe continued, “We have commenced a thorough investigation and will use our findings to further affirm and improve our emergency containment procedures.”
The hotel will resume full operations tomorrow Monday, February 17, 2014.
