General Overseer, Deeper Christian Life Bible Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has commended Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State for what he described as his visionary leadership in transforming the state.
Kumuyi, who is in Calabar for a 3-Day Special Retreat, disclosed this when he led other senior pastors of the church on a courtesy visit to Governor Liyel Imoke in Government House, Calabar, said: “Anyone who comes here knows that there is visionary leadership, there is security and fellowship and warmness among the people. This has lifted the state in its vision to develop the needed infrastructure to stand out as a preferred destination.”
On the prevalent peace and security in the state, the man of God said: “It was a wonderful experience driving through the city. I had a clear sense of security and tranquility. I dare say that Calabar has earned a reputation as tourists’ center that has attracted people from within and outside the country.”
“It is the security in the state and Calabar in particular that has made it gain its fame as tourists’ haven, where people visit year in year out from all over the world. It is now a center for major conferences.”
While praying that God should send a level-headed successor and a peaceful transition, Kumuyi added: “I identify with this government and pray that as the state transits, the vision and the strides recorded by you will be sustained by a God-fearing leader who would take over from you.”
Responding, Governor Imoke lauded the exemplary disposition of Pastor Kumuyi, maintaining that “He is a distinguished personality, a man who truly represents what leadership and service to God is all about.”
He pointed out that Kumuyi, who has placed the church on a strong leadership foundation, does not only propagate the gospel but has gone a step further in relating with those at the grassroots, imbibing in them the words in a manner it ought to be to glorify God.
“For us in Cross River State, we try to conduct ourselves in a manner that is truly God-fearing as we serve our people, knowing very well that we will all be held accountable for all our actions and our activities,” Imoke explained.
He urged the cleric to remember the state and country at large in their prayers, especially with the current security challenges which he expressed optimism shall soon be overcome.
Imoke added: “God who answers prayers would give us a smooth transition as you wish us and we would hand over to a God-fearing person who will deliver service to the people in line with our philosophy.”
