Christians all over the world have set aside Sundays as a holy day for worship and thanksgiving to God.
The third commandment of God according to the Holy Bible, also commands us to remember the Sabbath day and to keep it holy.
All these seemed to have made no sense in the Faculty of Education, as all is set for the conduct of a semester examination tomorrow, Sunday.
Some students of the faculty who spoke to our reporter complained bitterly about the development and wondered why it was impossible for management to schedule the examinations within the five working days and Saturday so that they can be given the space to “keep Sunday holy.”
They described as “barbaric and uncivilized”, the decision of the school management to deny those of them who are Christians the opportunity to worship on Sunday in order to write the examination.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that, the course to be written on Sunday is Education Administration, a course offered by all the third year students in the faculty of education of the University. The examination has been scheduled for 1pm and the venue is Pavilion 2 and 3.
But in a contrary reaction, one of the lecturers in the faculty of education who spoke to CrossRiverWatch on anonymity associated the Sunday examination to the lack of adequate venues on a working days as they have more than 1000 students offering the course.
It is worthy of note that the Students Union Government, SUG President of the University, Comrade Bassey Eka is from this faculty and one of the student to take the said examination.
