In what is becoming more and more like the handwriting on the wall, immediate past Commissioner of Works in Cross River State, Mr. Legor Idagbo, yesterday at the Wadata House national headquarters of the ruling PDP in Abuja picked the nomination form to contest the governorship of the state come 2015.
Legor arrived Wadata House in company of a contingent of supporters and after a brief exchange of pleasantries with secretariat staff and other party faithfuls, he presented the bank draft and obtained his form.
He left Abuja this afternoon and flew back to Calabar to the welcome of a huge crowd at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar.
Though the Chairman of the ruling PDP in Cross River State, Ntufam John Okon still told CrossRiverWatch this evening that nothing has changed from the list of five aspirants that the party shortlisted last Friday as finalists to face a second round of screening, the elaborate opening of a campaign office in Calabar on Monday by Mr. Legor Idagbo is suggesting that he is favorite to emerge after the conclusion of consultations between the governor and the senatorial caucuses later tonight at Peregrino House.
But when CrossRiverWatch asked Mr. Idagbo if his recent moves where an indication that he has advanced knowledge of what the party in the state will decide, he denied any knowledge of such and encouraged other aspirants to proceed and get their forms before 12midnight today when the window will close and not to wait for anyone.
“I don’t have advanced knowledge of who will win the final caucus screening. All five remaining aspirants should pick their forms o, because the deadline is today. It doesn’t make sense for anyone not to pick his form and be waiting for anointing. I am not waiting for anybody to anoint me. I have gone ahead to collect my form. We have the popularity on the ground. We don’t need to wait for anybody’s anointing.” He said.
