Hon Bassey Eko Ewa yesterday emerged as the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s candidate for the forthcoming coming House of Representatives Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency election.
He pulled a total of 88 votes out of 89 votes cast in the primary which saw Hon Francis Etta, the immediate past Chairman of Abi Local Government earning a vote while others scored no vote.
Other contestants included Dr. Alex Egbona, Chief Patrick Okomiso as well as Mr. Etim Ayomobi amongst others.
In his acceptance speech, Hon Ewa noted that he would vigorously pursue peace and reconciliation with other contestants who may feel aggrieved, adding that if finally elected, his representation would be all-inclusive.
The federal legislator who is the chairman House committee on Gas Resources thanked the Abi/Yakurr delegates for finding him worthy of their mandate, promising to justify the confidence reposed on him if eventually elected in 2015.
He praised the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election while commending party faithful and delegates as well as party officials for what he described as a successful exercise.
