The All Progressive Congress, APC yesterday picked an economist, Mr. Sylvester Nsa as its deputy governorship candidate to fly the colors of the party alongside Mr. Odey Ochicha, the party’s governorship flag bearer in the 2015 general election.
Briefing newsmen after the special executive meeting held at the party secretariat along Marian Road, Calabar, the State Chairman, Usani Usani said the choice of the deputy was unanimous after due consultations by the party.
Usani said the party settled for the Deputy Governorship Candidate due to political exigency informed by positive electoral value the choice will bring to the party.
“We have made a choice of the running mate of governorship candidate after a successful governorship primary adjudged to be free and fair.
“On account of the fact that the statute guiding the electoral guidelines determines that for the ticket to behold, there must be a running mate.
“We are once again introducing our governorship candidate Mr. Odey Ochicha and introducing his running mate which we have nominated after thorough consultation and selection in the interest of the party and it’s supporters, Mr Sylvester Nsa.
“After scrutiny of all factors that inform electoral values and valuations in the minds of the electorates of Cross River State his choice was settled for and we give God the glory.
Commenting on the choice of his running mate, the governorship candidate, Mr. Odey Ochicha said: “I’m very happy to have a young and vibrant economist from Calabar South as my running mate to drive the vision of bringing free education, affordable health care and world class infrastructure to be anchored on the economic drivers of Agriculture, Toursim and Manufacturing to turn Cross river State to a true tourism destination.
“We Shall do this through quality of our character, charisma and competences that will give APC government an edge over other political parties and candidates in Cross River.”
In his acceptance speech, the deputy governorship hopeful, Sylvester Nsa promised to work with his principal to bring quality and purposeful change to the people of Cross River State.
Commenting on the choice of the deputy governorship candidate, one of the APC chieftains, Cletus Obun said the party took into consideration the sociological politics situations in Cross River State.
In his words,”we have taken into account the sociological politic of Cross River with voting bulk of the State from Southern Cross River.
“The voting strength and age limit is important to the party in the State, it’s a generational change with vibrant vigor to change the state economy that has been driven into comatose to regenerate and reinvigorate Cross River State into a period of restoration.” he said .
Mr. Sylvester Nsa, 41 is an economist with over twelve years post NYSC experience in oil and gas, hospitality and enterpreneurship development.
Born in Calabar South to the popular Nsa family, he is a graduate of Business Management from the University of Calabar. He is married with three children.
