The Chairman, Cross River State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Hon. Steve Ukpukpen seemed not to have noticed his goof while speaking during the flag off of the 2014 Calabar carnival adult dry run in Calabar last week.
Hon. Ukpukpen who represented the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Larry Odey rather than correcting himself, quickly moved on after addressing Hon. Larry Odey as the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.
His words: “The Carnival has stayed for 10 years as you heard and it’s been growing from strength to strength, this years’ carnival promises to be stronger. It is on this note that I call on all Cross Riverians on behalf of His Excellency, the governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Larry Odey to formally flag off this dry run”.
The Obudu lawmaker apparently did not know he had fumbled as he finished his speech without correcting himself.
