The Government primary school Okpoma, Yala local government area football pitch was yesterday, momentarily thrown into pandemonium as a whirlwind rushed through the field leaving behind minor destruction.
The football pitch which was decorated to host the People’s Democratic Party, PDP campaign rally was suddenly thrown into chaos as a whirlwind rushed through the field tossing the umbrella the performing disc jockey, DJ used in covering his musical equipment.
Supporters who were seated awaiting the arrival of the PDP chieftains could be seen stretching their hands towards the whirlwind, with some praying while others recited incantations to calm the whirlwind which was gathering momentum and was largely suspected to be a spiritual attack.
Strange as it may seem, CrossRiverWatch later gathered that the stretching of hands was a common cultural practice in large gatherings where it is believed that there will be a spiritual attack.
