The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. James Epoke, has approved a total sum of seventeen million, Four hundred and fifty thousand (17,450,000) as the student union government budget for the 2014/2015 academic session.
The approved budget, a copy of which was made available to CrossRiverWatch, is jointly signed by the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Eyong U. Eyong, and the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Moses Abang.
The Ajang, Emmanuel led SUG exco had earlier presented a total sum of forty-three million Naira to the welfare board of the institution for approval. After numerous meetings and considerations, the budget was finally approved.
Details of the approved budget have over 70% of the figure allocated for Recurrent expenditure including allowances with the balance allocated to capital projects.
