Cross River’s governor Benedict Benyaushuye Ayade earlier this morning held his maiden statewide broadcast on his 100 days in office. Below is the full text of his address to Cross Riverians.
My beloved people of Cross River State, I come before you today to cast a long gaze into the horizons of tomorrow as we reminisce over our 100 Days in Office. And with confidence, I proclaim that the landscape is bright, and our future assured.
When I took the oath of office on that sweltering afternoon, I accepted the call of history to lead Cross River State to prosperity. I swore to hew a rocky pathway to greatness and bring our people to a point where they can live out their manifest destiny, where their God-given talents would find their greatest expression. We have not relented on this promise. And we shall meet and surpass it.
Fellow Cross Riverians, I am proud to announce to you today, that my team and I have crystallized our signature projects; the 240 kilometre super highway and Deep Sea Port construction work has since begun.
Beloved Cross Riverians, our mission from when we took the mantle of leadership, has been to create a socially stable and economically rewarding business climate.
This we shall accomplish because the wheels of progress have begun to turn. We have our hands and eyes focused on our collective aspiration with our legs on the pedals; drawing strength from the vitality of our youth and inspiration from God Almighty.
I therefore, have no doubt that soon and very soon too, the wintry of despondency that once held us captive as a state will give way to a new calistatics of freedom where sweat would be product of pleasure not toil.
I urge us all that we stand on this epocal fulcrum of history with faith. Let us not allow the chill of cynicism extinguish the flame of optimism. The difficult choices we make today, will definitely meet the challenges of our tomorrow.
My beloved Cross Riverians, in keeping with our resolve to liberate families from the jaws of poverty and to ensure that no child sleeps in empty stomach, our administration has since abolished taxes for our low income earners while also making housing a right for every citizen of the state on our Social Housing program and lifting a 23 year embargo on employment.
This undoubtedly is intended to mica the bondage of poverty while recalibrating the social inequality that has characterised our society. My beloved Cross Riverians, if you feel the same energy that I feel, if you feel the same urgency that I feel, if you feel the same passion that I feel; And that I know you do; then fear not because we shall overcome.
Cross River will soon become the benchmark for excellence among the comity of states in the world. As we look to a brighter future that beckons, we must thank you all for the support you have given this administration thus far.
We all know that the glory of our 100 days foundation lies in the strength of your support, convictions and prayers. For this we say thank you.
We enjoin you to run this race with us for a better tomorrow!
We promise to stay the course until we get to the finish line.
Thank you and God Bless
Long Live Cross River State
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
