Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has been bestowed with the Sustainability Champion Award at the 9th Edition of the Nigeria Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards (SERAs).
The award to the Governor, according to the organizers, is in recognition of his “well-documented works on the environment as the chairman of the International Institute of Environmental Research.”
The event that took place on Friday, November 20 at the Shell Hall, Muson Center, was graced by guests from across different spheres and sectors.
According to his citation as read at the event, Ayade “worked on Groundwater Remediation in Nigeria and invented a sewage treatment plant run on solar energy.
“Professor Ayade has won laurels from the Japanese Government and elsewhere for his outstanding research on global warming.”
Other prominent Nigerians who were also honored with awards at the event included Billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for being the single highest investor in corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the country in the period under review.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce was similarly honored for his advocacy in the areas of renewable energy and public campaigns against waste of resources and corruption in high places using the platform of ‘Common Sense’ media campaigns.
Ayade was represented at the event by Mr. Christian Ita, his Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary.
