The Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Mr Christian Ita has described rumours making the rounds about the purported sack of the Director of News, Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC), Dr Oshega Abang as absolutely untrue.
Ita in a statement issued in Calabar on Sunday said the rumors were not only ludicrous but the handiwork of unconscionable characters seeking to give the government of Senator Ben Ayade a bad name.
The governor’s spokesperson wondered what the offense of the Director was to warrant his purported sack, adding that even if Abang had committed any wrongdoing, there are laid down disciplinary measures other than outright sack.
He said so far the government is not aware of the offence of the Director of News to necessitate his alleged dismissal.
The statement urged members of the public to treat Abang’s rumored sack as the figment of the imagination of those out to discredit government.
Earlier they had been rumors that the News Editor, Dr. Abang had been fired by the governor for allowing news of the defection of some PDP big wigs to APC to go on air on the government owned station.
