The National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria has lauded Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade for establishing the Garment Factory and expressed the union’s intention to partner with the state in order for it to achieve the objectives the factory was built for.

The Union which says the factory is a land mark achievement in the quest to diversify Nigeria’s economy stated this in a letter signed by the National Secretary Issa Aremu who is also the Deputy National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress and addressed to the governor.

“We congratulate Professor Ben Ayade on the successful establishment of what is regarded as a world class garment factory in Calabar” the letter read.

Continuing, the textile union pointed out that the factory which will engage about 3,000 people shows that; “Your administration has commendably and practically moved in the direction of economic diversification favored by Buhari administration and we will be glad to partner you.”

Also, the letter further read: “As a leading private sector union affiliated to the NLC and Industrial Global Union with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, we are ready to cooperate with you in ensuring that the aim of establishing the garment factory is achieved.”
