Information reaching our newsroom says a contingent of the Nigeria Army is currently laying siege in search for a criminal kingpin popularly known as G1 who has been on their wanted list for months.
According to the information, G1 went to Eco Bank along Mary Slessor road Calabar, the Cross River State capital for to withdraw ransom money paid into an account to secure the freedom of one of his victims.
Few minutes after he entered the bank, soldiers stormed the premises and has apprehended some of his boys but they are still waiting for him to come out says our reporter who is monitoring events on the ground.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Ugbo told our reporter that, “I’m not aware of that but give me some time let me follow up”.
After the incident, CrossRiverWatch learnt, G1 escaped being arrested and when a call was placed to the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Ugbo she said they have no knowledge of the operation and that her men are on top of the situation.
