The Essien Town community in Calabar, the Cross River State capital last weekend benefitted from free medical services rendered by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) of the Nigerian Navy.
This is part of activities to mark the sixty first (61st) anniversary of the Nigerian Navy The Nation Newspapers reported the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the ENC, Rear Admiral James Oluwole as saying.
The services included free medical treatment, blood pressure checks, screening for diabetes, eye checks, distribution of free corrective glasses, issuing of free mosquito nets, free laboratory tests, health talk, free dental treatment and distribution of accessories.
The FOC ENC, Rear Admiral Oluwole told The Nation that the Navy is driven by the passion to make the society a better place.
The services were rendered at the premises of the St. Charles L’wanga Catholic parish in Essien Town which also hosts the ENC.
